Snow Days

Although you wouldn't know it by the warm temps and dripping, almost melted ice on our walkway, we had TWO days out of school this week due to an ice storm! And what FUN we had! The kids played outside constantly. The Coach bought a big cast iron fire pit (yeah gift cards!) for the patio and they built big fires to warm up by (and cook hot dogs on). Even Little Man braved the sub-freezing temps to play in the white stuff (I'm not sure that it was snow?).

Meanwhile, the Coach and I peeled the kitchen wallpaper (pictures to come). The Coach did most of the work, of course. I was busy tying and untying shoes, putting on hats, gloves and scarves and washing all of the laundry. In between fixing hot chocolate and snacks!

On Wednesday I was walking on the treadmill, watching all of the kids in the backyard play in the ice and slide down the hill and throw slush balls at each other - our kids plus three cousins - thinking what truly wonderful days these are. These busy, hectic, precious days. I'm in no hurry for them to pass!

Happy Friday!

That is awesome! I love the pictures.

We want to get an outdoor fireplace too!!

Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of our kids in the snow. I am not sure why! LOL.

my kids did the same thing - i washed so many wet socks, gloves, hats, scarves, & pants those 3 days! i would have loved to have a firepit to warm-up by! the kids are so sad the snow is melting.

Cute, cute! I'll take the blame for no pictures of the zimmszoo kiddos playing in the snow ;-) We're doing some interior work while it's cold outside, but we too have plans to build an outdoor fire-pit. What fun it will be!! Glad you got to have your troops home for a couple of days :-)

Treasure the moments. They will fly by. Our oldest grandson has just joined the Marines, finishing high school in May and boot camp in September. I am so not ready for this!

That same grandson attended his first Advanced Seminar in the Nursing Mothers Room in the early 90's. Your mom and dad were staffing the seminar. One of the last ones they served in KC.

Sounds like the ice produced a bit of fun over there! Glad you could get a project done as well, and keep up with the laundry, boots, mittens and hot chocolate! Thanks for the encouragement to keep all things in perspective, not wishing away the todays.

awww...great pictures! I don't think I even threw one snowball of the snow we had. I guess I was a little preoccupied. ;)

Your snow looks like ours - with grass poking up out of the top. Love these southern winters.
